Herman Saftleven, 1682-08-15

Saftleven made these two botanical drawings for Agneta Block, a well-to-do widow. After the death of her first husband, she purchased the Vijverhof country estate near Loenen aan de Vecht. She began cultivating exotic plants there, and commissioned a variety of artists to make drawings of all that blossomed in her garden.
