Beer tankard

Meissener Porzellan Manufaktur, c. 1730 - c. 1735

In between sips, 18th-century beer lovers would have admired Schenk the younger’s chinoiserie design on this luxurious tankard. His illustrations were used to decorate luxury household items, such as this Meissen object, as well as the Delftware tea tray elsewhere in this gallery.

Description
Bierpul van beschilderd porselein. De pul is beschilderd met een rondom lopende contour-chinoiserie bestaande uit vijf chinezen in een tuin, aan weerszijden afgesloten door rotsen en planten met bloemen. De bierpul heeft een verguld zilveren deksel. De pul en het deksel zijn gemerkt.
