Baby (Mother and Child)

Upon his discharge from the hospital, Heyboer’s doctor urged him to go back to his wife. The artist followed that advice, and some time later fathered a son. Although the marriage did not endure, Heyboer’s love for his son was great in the child’s first years of life. Here he succeeded in capturing the joy between a mother and son with an economy of lines.
