Explanatory note

  • Calverly deed al eerder twee geslaagde pogingen de maalstroom bij de Niagarawatervallen over te steken. Op 12 oktober 1892 vestigde hij het record om in minder dan 6 minuten de tocht te maken. Deze foto is van zijn derde poging in juli 1893.
