A Trace in the Woods in the Form of an Angle of 30° – Crossing the Path
Jan Dibbets, 1969-02
Only by selecting a high vantage point could Jan Dibbets fit this thirty metre-long V-shape into the picture. For the exhibition Earth Art in Ithaca, New York, he ploughed up a patch of snowy woodland ground with his students. Afterwards he photographed the black earth in such a way that the V-shape seems to stand upright. He labelled such photographs of interventions in nature or his studio as ‘perspective corrections’.
