A Temple Entrance at the Elephanta Caves

An inscription in the cave tells the story of Shiva and his consort Parvati playing a dice game near their palace on Mount Kalesh (in the Himalayas). While Parvati looks the other way, Shiva deliberately loses to his wife to make her happy.

    In de grot is een inscriptie gemaakt die het verhaal vertelt van Shiva en zijn vrouw Parvati die een dobbelspel spelen nabij hun woning Mount Kailash in Tibet. Parvati's hoofd is in tegengestelde richting gedraaid ten opzichte van het hoofd van Shiva. Shiva verliest met opzet om zijn vrouw blij te maken. Links in de grot zijn gereconstrueerde zuilen te zien.
