A Shepherd Couple with Cattle near a Shed

Adriaen van de Velde, 1646 - 1672

Even though this drawing is larger than the average preparatory sketch for a painting, it would never have left the workshop. For one it is not signed, and second, when the artist noticed there was not enough room at the top, he simply attached a strip of paper to the original sheet. This drawing would certainly not have been meant for sale.
