A Gothic Baldachin

Meester W met de Sleutel, c. 1480 - c. 1490

The early engraver who signed with a W followed by a key symbol may in fact be the goldsmith Willem Vanden Cruce of Bruges. Many of his prints display exceptionally refined pieces of goldsmith work, such as monstrances and censers. Sheets like this were probably meant to serve as models for fellow goldsmiths and their pupils.
