3 vertikale streifen (kinetisch objekt) (3 Vertical Lines [Kinetic Object])

Gerhard von Graevenitz, 1976

Order and coincidence are essential features of the work of the German artist Von Graevenitz, who lived in Amsterdam from 1970. The three vertical lines in this kinetic object never overlap, never run parallel, and never extend beyond the picture plane. In a straight position the three lines would divide the plane into four equal parts, but their asynchronic movement constantly create new irregular divisions of the surface.
