Puntvormige 18 cm granaat. De granaat is 51 cm lang en heeft een kaliber van 176 mm. Hij heeft twee ringen ingeschroefde nokken voor een getrokken loop met drie trekkende velden en een buisgat. Bovenin zijn drie ondiepe gaten voor de munitie-kraan aangebracht.

  • Deze granaat is een Common shell MK I 7 inch RML, die vanaf 1866 werd geproduceerd. Hij was bedoeld voor getrokken voorlaadgeschut, maar is door de Nederlandse Marine waarschijnlijk nooit gebruikt.

Entry

A pointed 18-cm shell.

The shell is 51 cm long and has a 176 mm calibre. The shell has studs for a rifled barrel with three grooves and a fuse hole. It has three shallow indentations in the top for the ammunition crane.

This shell is a Common shell MK I 7-inch RML, which was produced from 1866 onwards. It was for muzzle-loading rifled ordnance, but probably never used by the Dutch Navy.
