But her greatest talent of all was as a writer of verse. Her succinct and witty phrasing brought her great fame as a poet , and she maintained contacts with other renowned Dutch poets including Hooft, Huygens and Vondel. Despite not using the printing press herself, Roemersdochter Visscher’s verse was distributed in the form of transcripts or published in poetry collections. Just 34 of her poems have survived, and several of them were only discovered long after her death . Some results of Roemersdochter Visscher’s other talent, glass engraving, also survived.
