Man in a High Hat

Rembrandt van Rijn (mentioned on object), 1630

The large format of these prints enabled Rembrandt to devote more attention to the men’s costumes. They wear fur caps, a turban and oriental clothing, as is often the case in 17th-century tronies. His models are two different men: one with a short beard and the other with a flowing one. Both, incidentally, have been thought to be Rembrandt’s father.
