Slavery was abolished in Suriname and the Dutch Antilles in 1863. Dorothea Elisabeth van Uytrecht de Veer received 1600 guilders for the eight people she had held in slavery. Bitorina Voes, Carolina los Santos Broos, Christiaan Voes, Ermij Voes, Maria Broos, Marij Kook and Victor Voeg were given their freedom in 1863, but no financial compensation.

De wisselbrief is ondertekend door de plaatselijke gouverneur en voorzien van diverse stempels en aantekeningen waaruit blijkt dat betaling heeft plaatsgevonden. Links het cijfer 1 in een kader.
