Janneke van der Wijk (b. 1971) was born in Dantumadeel, Friesland, and studied Historical Pedagogy at the University of Amsterdam. In 2022-2024 she has been the director of the ELJA Foundation, a new arts endowment fund. Under her leadership it grew into an innovative and enterprising fund with more than 150 programmes run by cultural organisations throughout the Netherlands and the Caribbean region. Prior to her tenure at the ELJA Foundation, for 11 years Janneke van der Wijk was the Director of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, one of the leading institutes in the international field of music. Before joining the conservatorium, van der Wijk was the director of the Music Center the Netherlands, the national and international sectoral organisation for music.
