Will we see you After Hours at the Rijksmuseum? On July 25, you're invited to an evening full of talks, activities, and more all centered around the theme of gender and sexual diversity. Discover the full program below!

Sexual and gender identity, expression, and experience have always been part of human history. Over the next three years, the Rijksmuseum is placing extra focus on this topic through various events tied to Amsterdam Pride. This evening, we celebrate Pride and the meaning for the Rijksmuseum.

FILMS & PANEL DISCUSSION

In the auditorium, we’ll explore how gender has been represented in art and across cultures throughout the centuries. In collaboration with the Humans of Film Festival, we’ll screen two short films on sexual and gender diversity. Moderator Alejandra Ortiz (she/her) will discuss this with, among others, writer and journalist Tahrim Ramdjan (he/him), photographer and writer Bete van Meeuwen (they/them), and senior educator Anne Knipping (she/her).

The panel discussion is in Dutch.

EXHIBITIONS

Visit the Asian Pavilion and explore the exhibitions Crossings and Fiona Tan: Monomania.

ACTIVITIES

Our ideas about gender and identity have shifted over time. In the Asian Pavilion, we invite you to explore artworks that offer fresh perspectives, sparked by thought-provoking conversation starters.

Music & Drinks

Enjoy music and drinks.
