The Duke of Alva and the Prince of Orange face each other. Alva is accompanied by Discord and Envy. He leads a nude woman in shackles, the Netherlands. Personified as a poor beggar, the people lie at his feet. William of Orange has other friends on his side: Honour, Wealth, and Clean Conscience. The message is clear: only he can restore peace and prosperity.

    Allegorische vergelijking tussen Oranje en Alva. Rechts Willem van Oranje begeleid door de personificaties Eer, Rijkdom van het Land (Slants Voorspoet) en Gewetensrust (Rust der Conscientien). Links Alva tussen Tweedracht en Afgunst (Nydicheyt). Hij voert de Nederlandse Maagd (Die nacie van nederlant) naakt en geboeid aan de arm. Aan zijn voeten het Volk (Arme Ghemeynte) als een arme bedelaar. Op de achtergrond oorlogstaferelen. In de lucht Roem (Fama) met bazuinen. In het onderschrift 4 verzen van 4 regels in het Nederlands (incompleet).
