Heavy cavalry flintlock pistol, type M1820

Vuursteen voorlaadpistool, de laadstok ontbreekt. De loop, versierd met gekruiste ankers, is aan de lade vastgemaakt met een ijzeren beugel, die op zijn beurt met een staart aan de lade vastzit. Kolfkap, trekkerbeugel en pan zijn van messing. Eenvoudig ijzeren vuursteenslot. Tegenover het slot is een beugel aan de lade aangebracht, waarmee het pistool aan een riem gehangen kan worden. Voor het grootste deel komt dit pistool overeen met het pistool voor de zware cavalerie M 1820.

Entry

Flintlock muzzle-loading pistol.

The barrel, marked with crossed anchors, is secured to the stock with a steel band, which in turn is attached to the stock with a strap. Brass butt cap, trigger guard and pan. Basic iron flintlock. On the opposite side of the lock, the pistol has a belt hook. The ramrod is missing

This pistol largely conforms to the Dutch Army regulation pistol M 1820 for the cavalry. According to Obreen this type of pistol was still in use in 1858.1J.M. Obreen, Catalogus der verzameling modellen van het Departement van Marine, The Hague 1858, no. 731.
