Getting started with the collection:
Couple Making Love Seen from Behind Against a Blue-Purple Background, Manipulated
Aat Veldhoen, 1997-10 - 1998-12
Nothing is faster than a Polaroid. You pull the photograph straight out of the camera, without toiling in the darkroom or relying on the intervention of the photographic trade. The etcher and painter Veldhoen began using Polaroids around 1968. From 1977, he often scratched and painted them in bright colours, ultimately producing over 4000 such works. This ‘forgotten’ part of Veldhoen’s artistic production is shown here for the first time.
