Square Bottle

anonymous, c. 1670 - c. 1730

The practice of embellishing undecorated Asian porcelain in Europe was not uncommon. This bottle is painted in a Kakiemon style, which may have actually been executed in Meissen.

  • Description

    Vierkante fles van porselein, met lange hals, beschilderd op het glazuur in blauw, rood, groen, aubergine, zwart en goud met afwisselend op de vier wanden een prunus en chrysant. Bij de hals afhangende bloemen en bladeren aan een lus. Dubbele rode lijn langs de mondrand. Chip in de rand. Oud label op de onderzijde met 'Collectie Westendorp/ 122'. Kakiemon-decor, wellicht uitgevoerd in Meissen. Fles Japans.
