Collector’s cabinet with miniature apothecary

The cabinet houses many small pots and bottles containing simplicia, or medicinal ingredients. Several drawers are filled with minerals, fossils, wood samples, seeds and so forth. Many other drawers are empty. The cabinet may originally have contained a ‘universal collection’, which included small artefacts as well as products of nature, probably assembled by a cultivated and prosperous gentleman.

  • Description

    Simpliciakast belijmd met wortelnotenhout en olijfhout op eikenhouten kern. Het front wijkt in het midden naar voren en bevat in de onderkast twee deuren, waarboven een brede en twee smalle laden; voluutvormige zijkanten. De profiellijsten onder en boven de laden bevatten ook een lade en in dit deel bevindt zich ook een uitschuifbaar blad. De bovenkast heeft twee, aan de bovenkant geschulpte deuren met spiegels. Kap met hoekig gebogen geprofileerde kroonlijst. Koperbeslag.
