Two Dishes and a Plate

Landscapes with European-looking figures and buildings appear in many variations on Japanese export porcelain meant for the European market. They were probably based on Dutch prints, or Delftware, which may explain why the clouds are depicted in a European manner.

    Schaal van porselein met accoladevormige wand en rand, beschilderd in onderglazuur blauw. Op het plat een landschap met daarin een ruiter en twee lopende mensen tussen rotsen en bomen. Op de achtergrond twee paviljoens en wolken. De binnenrand is met een blauwe band. Gemerkt op de onderzijde met het zes-karaktermerk van keizer Chenghua. Vier proenen op de onderzijde. Arita, blauw-wit.
