Teapot with a Standing Figure Amidst Waves

This hexagonal teapot is decorated with a profusion of auspicious motifs. The handle features two dragons chasing a pearl in the clouds. The cover’s knop takes the form of a reclining lion, while the spout commences with a dragon’s head. The six surrounding panels tell the tale of Kuixing, the deity associated with literature and examinations.

    Zeshoekige theepot van rood steengoed met een gebogen tuit en opstaand handvat. Op de wand zes vakken met daarin een voorstelling in reliëf van Kuixing, de god van de literatuur, staande op een drakenkop tussen golven. Op de schouder een band met gestileerde bladmotieven. De basis van de tuit wordt gevormd door een drakenkop in reliëf. De staanders van het handvat zijn in de vorm van wolkmotieven; de legger wordt gevormd door twee draken. Yixing.
