Teapot in the Shape of a Melon
anonymous, c. 1675 - c. 1699
The body of this teapot features grape vines, with three squirrels frolicking among them in 3D relief. The handle and spout resemble melon stems. This specimen illustrates how Yixing-style teapots combine motifs from both the plant and the animal world.
