Tureen and Stand with a Ladle

Engelbart Joosten, 1772

Baron Assueer Jan Torck and his wife Eusebia Jacoba de Rode van Heeckeren invested in new table silver when they moved into their new house in The Hague. The tureen was one of the most important pieces on the table at the time and was therefore made in a modern, neoclassical style. It provides a good impression of the taste within the circles surrounding the stadtholder’s court.
