Border of Needle Lace

Two techniques are combined in this band. Reticella (bottom half) is early lace with geometrical motifs. Punto in aria, literally ‘stitch in air’, is a freer technique. The motifs are airier and looser.

    Strook naturelkleurig naaldkant, reticella en punto in aria. Gemaakt voor een 'Medici-kraag'. Dubbele strook met verschillende patronen. Het ene deel heeft diepe, getande schulpen met in het centrum twee afwisselende wieltjes; elk met een stijf drievoudig gespreid bladkroontje. De andere strook heeft een patroon met beurtelings wieltjes en ruitjes binnen vierkantjes, aan beide lange zijden afgewerkt met een rechte rand.
