Hanging vase. Japan, north Kyûshû. 17th century. Stoneware, Karatsu ware, Egaratsu type. Karatsu ware is a general term for pottery based on Korean styles. These pieces have a characteristic rough, rustic look. Westendorp bequest.

    Grote stoftheebus of chaire van steengoed waaraan net onder de schouder een bronzen oor is bevestigd, gedeeltelijk bedekt met een crèmekleurig glazuur en beschilderd in onderglazuur blauw. Op de wand tweemaal een plant. Enkele restauraties aan de rand en schouder. Oud label aan de binnenzijde en onderzijde met 'E-karatsu/ 17e?'. E-Karatsu.
