Chair in Villa Negroni

Jacques-Louis David (mentioned on object), c. 1775 - c. 1780

The famous painter David drew this well-known chair from Roman antiquity during his sojourn in Rome. He made use of it when at a later time he wished to depict authentic furniture in his history paintings with subjects from Roman times. David himself also designed furniture in a severe classical style.
