The register makes it clear that the student cohort was fairly uniform: young and white Dutch women, usually engaged and mostly living in The Hague. Among them, Sophie Tribulawony stood out. Born in Buitenzorg (Bogor) on Java, Tribulawony was of Moluccan descent and in 1932 came with her parents to the Netherlands where she attended secondary school. She enrolled in the Colonial School in 1936.

    Stamboek van de Koloniale School voor Meisjes en Vrouwen, een opleidingsinstituut dat in september 1921 in Den Haag zijn deuren opende. In driemaandelijkse cursussen werden de leerlingen, bijna zonder uitzondering verloofd of gehuwd met mannen die naar Nederlands-Indië vertrokken, voorbereid op een leven aldaar. Het stamboek, bestaande uit twee delen, bevat de registratie van de leerlingen. Het heeft een zwarte linnen omslag, de schutbladen hebben een marmermotief. Het binnenwerk van deel II bestaat uit 161 voorbedrukte pagina's met kolommen en rijen die met de hand zijn ingevuld. De titels van de kolomhoofden zijn: 'gevolgde cursus', 'stamboeknummer', 'namen en voornamen, alsmede woonplaats', 'gehuwd of verloofd? Zoo ja met wien?', 'vermoedelijke bestemming (plaats en tijdstip)', 'handteekening' en 'toelichtingen (o.a. ook later berichten)'. Op de rechterpagina zijn kleine, vaak uitgeknipte, foto's van de leerlingen geplakt, incidenteel groepsfoto's, trouwfoto's en andere documenten. Zeventien foto's en documenten werden los aangetroffen in het stamboek.
