Decorative object

attributed to De Metaale Pot, c. 1680 - c. 1690

Objects such as this were formerly called wig stands. However, as they occur in many different shapes and sizes, they were most likely not actually used for wigs. They may simply have been decorative objects without a specific purpose. The painted Chinese figures have almost black contours, which are filled in with tints of blue.
