Small-sword with scenes from the Old Testament

This small-sword is decorated with a number of scenes from the Old Testament. On the pommel, God is depicted in a cloud. Representations of Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Noah’s Ark and Lot and his daughters are on the hilt.

Description
Het gezwarte ijzeren gevest is geheel versierd met gebeitelde ornamenten in voornamelijk hoogreliëf: drakenkoppen, menselijke figuren en lofwerk, waarvan de belangrijkste afbeeldingen bestaan uit scènes uit het Oude Testament, op de gevestknop God de Vader op een wolk en Lot en zijn dochters, op het pareerblok Adam en Eva in het paradijs en Kaïn en Abel, onderop de stootplaat de verzoeking en de verdrijving uit het paradijs, bovenop het uitsturen van de duif met een ark met een kruis er bovenop en Noach offert aan God; de vuistbeugel heeft de vorm van een draak; de houten greep is omwonden met ijzerdraad; waarschijnlijk missen er gevlochten greepringen. De tweesnijdende kling heeft een vroege colichemardevorm en een zeshoekige doorsnede die uitloopt in ruitvormig; op het middelste klingvlak staan met goud geïncrusteerde bloemranken.
