Shift 21: Interference patterns of modulated waves

Peter Struycken has been using the computer since the end of the 1960s to, as he says himself, control complexity. This drawing was made on a computer-run drawing machine: the artist sets the parameters and the computer calculates the patterns for the drawing machine. Struycken uses this mathematical approach to explore the relationship between place, colour, change, and space.

    Vier aan elkaar geplakte vellen gerangschikt in een vierkant. Abstracte voorstelling bestaande uit organische vormen opgebouwd uit overwegend donderblauwe, lichtgroene en in mindere mate rode stippen. De vier vellen zijn met een strip papier aan de achterkant aan elkaar bevestigd, op deze strips is een groen en een blauw motief van stippen te zien. Op de achterkant heeft de kunstenaar in potlood berekeningen gemaakt voor de compositie.
