Van Heemskerk kept this dish until his death. The inscription translates as: ‘Whosoever is willing to pay libel with slander, can never gain honour’.

    Lage schotel met brede rand met omgeslagen randje. Op de rand is in Italiaanse letters gegraveerd 'Geen mensche kan oyt eer behaelen, Die smaed met Lastren wil betaelen.'. Op het plat het monogram 'V H' onder een krans.
