Unfolding before us like a cartoon strip are eighteen scenes from the life of Christ. The painting thus becomes a visual résumé of Christian redemption: the salvation of mankind through the death and resurrection of God’s son. It begins at top left with the Annunciation and the Nativity and finishes at bottom right with the Crucifixion and the Resurrection.

Description
Achttien taferelen uit het leven van Christus, bekend als de Roermondse passie. Drie rijen van zes voorstellingen, bovenste rij: Verkondiging aan Maria, de Geboorte, de Besnijdenis, de Aanbidding der Koningen, de Presentatie in de tempel en de Intocht in Jeruzalem. Middelste rij: Laatste Avondmaal, het gebed in Gethsemané, het Verraad van Judas, Christus voor Pilatus, de Doornenkroning en de Geseling. Onderste rij: de Kruisdraging, Chistus aan het kruis, de Bewening, de Opstanding, de Hemelvaart van Christus en Pinksteren.
