Rinaldo Abandons Armida

Lorenzo Baldissera Tiepolo (mentioned on object), 1751 - 1755

The scene depicted here is the same as in the adjacent etching by Giovanni Domenico, Rinaldo abandoning Armida. Both brothers based themselves on works by their father: Giovanni Domenico on a fresco in the Villa Valmarana in Vicenza, Lorenzo on a painting in the palace in Würzburg. Giovanni Domenico’s etching technique is somewhat looser and bolder than that of his younger brother.
