De compositiestudie toont een groep figuren tegen een achtergrond van stedelijke architectuur. Op de voorgrond staat een man in militair kostuum die een zwaard of dolk in de lucht steekt. Twee tekeningen op één blad. Mogelijk een dubbelgevouwen tekenblad of een blad uit een schetsboek.
