The combination of representations in gold on a black background is based on Japanese lacquer, which was very popular at the beginning of the 18th century. The motifs – the phoenix, the pavilion and especially the large flowers – are mainly found on Chinese porcelain from the same period. This Delft vase was inspired by both Chinese and Japanese models.

    Pot (zonder deksel) van veelkleurig beschilderde faience op een olijfgroene fond. De vorm van de pot is breed canopisch en de pot heeft een lage ronde hals. Op de pot zijn in geel bloemen, gebonden heggen, vogels, een Chinees paviljoen waarnaast een tafel met daarop een theepot, een vaas met bloemen en een fles.
