Portrait of a Woman

Dave Heath (mentioned on object), 1962

When Dave Heath shot these two portraits he was still entirely unknown. His breakthrough came in 1965 with the book A Dialogue with Solitude, in which he wrote about accepting the tragic side of life. These two photographs bear witness to this attitude. At the same time, there is also something timeless about them.
