Peacock and Poultry in a Park, Chased by a Dog

This watercolour demonstrates how a floral still life could be used as part of a larger representation. The scene may be a design for a painted wall hanging. At the end of the 17th century it became fashionable to decorate interiors with finely painted landscapes, sometimes enlivened with birds and other animals.
