Parasol with machine-made lace canopy

Parasols with a black lace canopy over a white silk ground had been in fashion since 1850and where therefore nothing new in the 1890s. Yet the maker of this parasol added an innovate element by decorating the inside of the canopy. When the opened parasol is carried over the shoulder, a border of black flowers surrounds the face.

    Parasol met dek van zwarte machinale Chantilly-kant, met zwarte stok. Lang model, raamwerk bekleed met acht sectoren kantstof en gerimpelde geschulpte stroken en witte voering van ponjé-zijde. Op de witte voering zijn zwarte bloemen van kant genaaid, steeds drie bij elkaar op een strook. Stok als een tak met geribde schors met knop in de vorm van een knoest of voet, waarvan de holle zijde is bekleed met zilverkleurig metaal. Met opbergsysteem met o.a. een uit drie bollen bestaande kwast met zwart net. Ring om over de gesloten parasol te schuiven.
