Pair of vases

Meissener Porzellan Manufaktur, c. 1730 - c. 1740

Although the rim of one of these vases is quite misshapen, both were nevertheless decorated and delivered. That the factory management deemed the deformation acceptable speaks volumes about the difficulty of producing vases of this size. The floral and bird decorations are derived from Japanese Kakiemon porcelain.

    Bolvormige vaas van beschilderd porselein. De vaas heeft een hoge hals en wijd uitstaande mond. De vaas is beschilderd met gebonden heggen, rotsen, Indianische Blumen en grote vogels op het lichaam en met een vogel op een tak naast een bamboestam op de hals. Langs de mondrand is een brede strook met Indianische Blumen op een zwart gespikkelde groene fond aangebracht, waarin tweemaal een uitsparing met een gestileerde vogel. De vaas is gemerkt.
