War

Constant (signed by artist), 1951

Unlike the generations of artists before him, Constant did not use soft pastel crayon to draw velvety depictions, but instead the harsh and cruel reality of the war. Not timidly, but vehemently and angrily he drew a sinister landscape full of menacing black crosses. The fate of the two figures in the foreground does not look promising.
