Design for a Ciborium

Mathieu Lauweriks, 1874 - 1932

This is a working drawing by the goldsmith Frans Zwollo. On the copy that was made of the original design for the ciborium, Zwollo made annotations regarding the execution and outlines of the silverwork. Remarkably, he altered the placement of the opals on the lid. One of the versions of the ciborium made in silver is on view in the first cabinet in this gallery.
