Breakfast service I

Hendrik Petrus Berlage, 1924

The design of this service is dependent on the mechanical pressing of glass. Hexagons and circles are the basic shapes of the moulds with which each piece was manufactured in a single step. Given the material’s characteristics, industrial mass production was an obvious option. However, the pronounced shape of this design did not catch on, so the service was produced in only small numbers.
