Nightgown with Lace Yoke

Watrigant, Madame (possibly), c. 1925 - c. 1930

The yoke of this nightgown consists of strips of bobbin lace, while the rest is made of pleated silk (crêpe de Chine). Pleating is a technique whereby fabric is pressed into semi-permanent folds. Mrs Brusse sent everything in need of re-pleating to Brussels; according to her, this could not be done well in the Netherlands.
