Night Walk

Jeanne Bieruma Oosting (signed by artist), 1944

The artist Jeanne Bieruma Oosting had an intense love affair with the author Netty Wind (pseudonym A.H. Nijhoff) in 1943. They planned to write a book together about their relationship: Wind would provide the text and Bieruma Oosting the illustrations. The book never materialised, but the lithographs have survived. A dreamy series of images of tenderness, passion, and longing in an imaginary landscape.
