Gunlock (Percussion)

Percussieslot, zwart geverfd, aan de rechterkant tegen de slotverhevenheid gemonteerd wordt met twee bouten met vleugelmoeren die door de slotverhevenheid gaan. De hamer draait in een rechte hoek ten opzichte van de loop; het trekkertouw is in de steel van de hamer vastgemaakt en gaat door een ring naar achteren. Er is een steun voor de hamer als hij terugslaat. Het zundgat wordt afgedekt met een ijzeren plaatje, dat door een nok aan de as van de hamer wordt teruggetrokken als de hamer draait.

Explanatory note

  • Dit ontwerp werd in 1833 door Kolonel Parisot aan de Franse Académie aangeboden; volgens een andere lezing was Kolonel Jure de ontwerper. Het slot werd in de Franse Marine ingevoerd. In 1837 liet Ktz. E. Lucas dit slot onder toezicht van H.A. Gobius vervaardigen. Het is in de Nederlandse Marine niet ingevoerd.

Entry

Right-hand percussion lock, painted black, to be mounted sideways against the vent patch with two bolts with wing nuts through the patch. The hammer turns at right angles to the gun; the lanyard is fastened to the shaft of the hammer and goes backwards through a ring. The hammer recoils on a stud. The vent is covered with an iron plate, which a notch in the axis of the hammer pulls back when the latter drops.

This design was proposed to the Académie française by Colonel Pârisot in 1833. Colonel Jure is also mentioned as the inventor of this gunlock. It became the regular percussion lock in the French Navy. In 1837, Captain Engelbertus Lucas (1785-1870) had this lock made under supervision of H.A. Gobius. It was not accepted by the Dutch Navy.
