Model of Riding Bitts and Stoppers for a Chain Cable

Rijkswerf Amsterdam, 1837

Model van een gedeelte van twee dekken met ankerbeting en twee luiken op het bovenste dek. Het achterste luik doet dienst als kabelgat. De bakboordzijde van het model is ingericht voor ankerketting, de beting bekleed met koper en de hoek van het kabelgat verstevigd; de stuurboordzijde is voor gewoon ankertouw. De ketting aan bakboord wordt op de beting zowel als in het kabelgat geborgd met kettingstoppers, bestaande uit een hefboom die neergehouden wordt met een takel. Op het dek zijn touwstoppers aangebracht. Schaal 1:20.

Entry

Model showing part of two superimposed decks with riding bitts and two hatches on the upper deck. The aftermost hatch is the cable hatch. The portside of the model is for the chain cable, the riding bitts are sheathed in copper and the hatch is reinforced. The starboard side is for ordinary rope cable. There is a chain on the portside, which is secured with a stopper in the riding bitts and one in the hatch, both being compressors tied down with a tackle. Cable stoppers have been installed on deck.
