Rijkswerf Vlissingen, c. 1840 - c. 1850

Model van een deel van een achthoekige mast met vierkante top, zalings, ezelshoofd en steng. Een slothout draagt de steng op de langszalings; in een rij tanden tegen de steng valt een pal die op de voorste dwarszaling is gezet, met de bedoeling om de steng bij het breken van de stengewindreep op te vangen.

Demonstration model of part of an octagonal mast with a square head, crosstrees, cap and topmast. A fid in the heeling of the topmast supports the topmast on the trestletrees; a pawl on the foremost crosstree falling into a line of the topmast’s teeth is meant to prevent the topmast from falling, should the top rope break.1J.M.
