Schematic wooden model of a part of a dry dock with blocks and part of a ship’s side shored up by a composite support.

The support can be set in different positions by means of a rack and ratchet, adjusting itself to the height and inclination of the part of the hull it has to support.

The model, showing a design by the American engineer Vaudricourt,1J.M. Obreen, Catalogus der verzameling modellen van het Departement van Marine, The Hague 1858, no. 12. is probably a patent model.
