Model of a Pile Driver on a Raft

Gepolychromeerd model op een grondplank, dat een vlot voorstelt. Met deze heistelling kunnen de palen verticaal en schuin ingeheid worden. Het touw van het heiblok gaat van een kaapstander door een schijf onder in de stelling naar een schijf aan de top. De palen die het blok geleiden rusten op twee planken, die in en uit de grondplank geschoven kunnen worden en daarmee de hei-hoek bepalen. Door een tweede blok in de top loopt een touw waaraan een heipaal hangt.

Model of a pile driver on a platform representing a raft.2J.M. Obreen, Catalogus der verzameling modellen van het Departement van Marine, The Hague 1858, no. 43. The piling frame is constructed to enable the pile to ram vertically or at an angle. The tackle of the rammer goes from a capstan through a sheave at the bottom of the frame to a sheave at the top; the poles guiding the rammer rest on two planks that can be extended outboard from the platform to regulate the angle. The pile is held by an extra rope through a pulley at the top.

This model is first mentioned as part of the private collection of Jochem Pietersz Asmus (1755-1837) in 1807.3HNA 2.01.29.02 Dept. Marine, Aanhangsel I, inv. no. 20, La. F no. 23.
